Thanks to social distancing most of us have transitioned from working in an office to working from home. This also means practicing yoga at home. To help maintain your practice during this uncertain time we’re going to help you make the most of your at-home yoga practice.

One of the biggest differences of doing yoga at home rather than in a studio is that you won’t experience the community of a yoga studio. But don’t underestimate the power of at-home asanas. You may be skeptical about doing yoga at home, but if you give it a try we think you will fall in love with it.
As we’ve said before, practicing yoga at home can be very beneficial for your wellbeing. With that in mind we’ve listed five reasons why we enjoy doing yoga at home.
You can go at your own pace
It’s great to be a part of a community, but being able to go at your own pace can be a nice for a change.
You get to set the schedule
It can feel like you’re forcing your schedule to fit into someone else’s when trying to make it to a scheduled class. One of the benefits of practicing yoga at home is that you can set the schedule to fit whenever works best for you.
You can choose the music
We all have personal musical preferences. It might sound trivial, but it’s nice to be able to choose the music that suits your mood.
You can trade your yoga pants for pajama pants
Yoga pants are great. But have you ever rolled out of bed and walked straight into your gym or yoga studio? Probably not.
But now you can! Your home is a judgement-free zone which means you can practice yoga wearing whatever you want without getting ready.
People who practice yoga at home often find it’s one of the best ways to reconnect with themself. The comfortable, personal setting of your home provides an additional sense of tranquility that a traditional yoga studio may not be able to facilitate..

What you need for your at-home yoga practice
If you’re used to your studio or gym providing you with supplies, there are a few items you will need for your at-home yoga studio.
The yoga block is another useful tool for practicing yoga. While they’re not mandatory, yoga blocks help maintain balance, and can also provide support to your back, head, and hips during poses.

You may want to wipe the sweat off your mat during your session to keep it from getting slippery. There’s no need to overcomplicate it though – a hand towel will work to soak up the sweat.

When you’re at home the choice is up to you. As we previously mentioned, you can wear whatever you want for your at-home practice as long as it’s comfortable and unrestrictive.
